In October 2019, the PowerPuck team donated 43 chargers and installed charging Rails in 6 different areas of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) facility near Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago. RMHC helps 162 families every night stay close to their hospitalized children by taking care of hotel and food costs. In 2018 the RMHC House program helped 6,337 children and the Family Room program helped 5,483 children. One of those children is a son of one of our own IDEAL employees, so this installation was uniquely special to the IDEAL family.
“The number one request at the house [is] places to charge your [device]. From the day we did our volunteer event and had the initial conversation to seeing the system installed makes me feel overwhelmed with happiness knowing that we provided something so simple to a place that gives so much. Without the RMHC, our out of pocket yearly expenses for hotels and food would number in the thousands of dollars. Having a place to sleep and eat while we are at Lurie’s and now having a place to sit and charge our electronics is an added bonus.”
